Pushya, wholly within Cancer, is considered one of the most auspicious nakshatras. Its name means to nourish, its symbol is the cow’s udder that feeds without asking, and its deity Brihaspati is the wise priest and counsellor. It is the nakshatra of care given steadily and well.

The Moon in Pushya gives a protective, dependable and devoted nature. These people are often the ones others lean on, at home, in a community or in a religious or teaching role. Saturn as lord adds patience, seriousness and a respect for tradition and duty.

The traditional caution is not to over-give or become rigid about how care should look. Pushya is at its best when it also lets itself be nourished.
